Oh Ava!

I really love stitching on Convent's Herbal Garden. It gives me yet another reason to love Friday nights!! I finished the lower right garden tonight - lots and lots of little queen stitches. I love doing queen stitches (seriously, I do!!). I can't wait until I reach the point where I can do the beading in this central section of the garden - it is going to be really shimmery.
I am posting this primarily for
Jo: this is my floss toss for our upcoming Garden Spots Sampler SAL. Obviously, this is not my actual piece of fabric - it is a small cut that I have kitted up for a different project, but it is R&R 40 ct Creme Brulee. I think all of the gorgeous Victoria Clayton silks show up well on it :-) I am looking forward to seeing your fabric choice too (and this is also a sneak peek for you to see how lovely the silks you ordered will be!!).

I picked up the DMC floss for the alternate color conversion for Celtic Autumn today... I really love that one, and the floss was on sale - which I did not know until I got to A.C. Moore. That is always a nice thing to discover!! And, then I just could not ignore the Labor Day Sale at Stitching Bits & Bobs - no, of course I couldn't, that would not be like me! I started off by getting this gorgeous fat quarter of Heritage Cashel from Picture This Plus - it screams "stitch a pretty sampler on me!!," so I will!! And I got the two packs of 13007 MH embellishments for Mermaids of the Deep Blue, six skeins of GAST in Black Raspberry Jam for Paradigm Lost (I don't know how many I will need, but six is a good start) and a pack of creme de mint frosted beads for that Celtic Autumn Color Conversion.... can't wait! Last night I ordered the 20" x 20" cut of Ray of Light Belfast for Taj Mahal, and the four cards of Petite Treasure Braid (again for Celtic Autumn...) from Paw Prints Cross Stitch.

So... are you wondering yet why this entry is entitled "Oh Ava!"?? Well....
...I left the room for just a couple of minutes tonight while I had been stitching. Somehow my Ava got underneath my Q-Snap with my garden on it (yikes! White belfast linen! Luckily, no stains). I have no idea how she did this. It had been propped against the back of the sofa. She got onto the chart and some magazines we were reading earlier, and I don't know if it fell on her or if she pulled it down. I am guessing the latter, because the needlework is right side up...hmmm.... She has been in rare form all night - first she was allowed out on the porch with Mike this evening, and she immediately bolted off to hunt for chipmunks. Then when we brought her in she took to swatting all the other cats, being very bossy - she even swatted me too. This little girl needs a talking to - interfering with my needlework is not acceptable :-)

Mmmmm, we found another excellent restaurant tonight - Cat 'N Fiddle in Concord, NH :-) It's nice to find new places to eat!

Stitched on today: Convent's Herbal Garden, and 17th Century Irish Garden (at work)

Just when I thought I had a lot of stuff I read all about yours... ;) My 5 year old's name is Ava. I think it's so funny that it's your cats name!

Naughty Ava!
Thanks for showing me the silks - I can't wait for mine to arrive and we can get stitching! As for the Long Dog SAL I'm definitely tempted but think I have too much going on at the moment to start a new project. Maybe early next year?? I don't mind joining in late if you want to start earlier.

Love,love, love your garden!

Firstly - thank you for the lovely comments on my blog Carol - you know how to make someone feel special :)

Your Garden is gorgeous! I love the colours in this one ... and great start on Celtic Winter - I'm itching to get back to mine, sitting on my hands until Tuesday though!

first, I agree with Kiwi Jo, your comments in my blog do help me keep focased and to keep plugging away at a piece. Thanks! :)

As for the garden..I've been eyeing a few of her pieces, but have been afraid to committ to the price, since I'm unsure of how "difficult" they are, and what speciality stitches they have. (I'm not good with many) So I really love to watch your progress. Keep up the great work!!

Looking lovely Carol - and yes, I can imagine how much you look forward to Friday nights.

The VC's look lovely on the creme brulee.... something else for us to watch growing.

Ava - now what can I say..... just too cute!

I have enjoyed reading your blog immensely, and loved seeing your stitching projects underway and completed. But I have to say I howled out loud at Ava under your stitching!! It reminds me of my own old cat when he was alive - he'd always be trying to squeeze into the gap between knees and stitching when I was on the sofa, and you got dirty looks for hours afterwards when you moved him off to sit next to you instead ... such a pout!! haha
