Slow, slow progress....

...on Legends of the Dragons tonight... I think I will start some of Wisdom next week... I obviously need a break from the knotwork. I can only imagine how much slower it would be if I were stitching it as it is charted with the confetti stitches rather than just using the Storm Clouds Waterlilies - LOL!!! It is looking great though, no complaints really. Of course, another crooked scan!! I guess my scanner is too close to the edge of my rolltop computer desk and when I close the lid I don't realize the fabric hanging over the edge then shifts... something like that... oh, well :-)
Looky what I found in the Stitcher's Hideaway newsletter - our pal, Nicole (on the left, with warm up jacket on)! I feel confident this is her - I met her at Celebrations in April, and I also knew she was taking this Ellen Chester class in Sturbridge, MA... and how can I miss recognizing this pretty face? Is it you Nikki, or someone awfully similar?? LOL!

Q. Which way do you stitch (/// and then \\\ or \\\ and then ///)? Can
you (or if you haven't done it before, do you think you could) change
the way that you stitch temporarily if it is asked of you?

A. I stitch /// and then \\\. I rarely see anyone stitching the other way, but did see this once or twice years ago when I was doing round robins. I am sure I could switch if asked to, but would prefer not to :-) That is not how I was taught to stitch. I've been told that there isn't a right way and a wrong way, but even though I am actually mostly self-taught, I have never seen a stitch diagram that goes \\\ and then ///. But honestly, if someone really wanted me to do it that way, I would.

Passione Ricamo has their full set of free topiaries up right now - here! They are gorgeous, and I downloaded the two I needed still tonight. I won't bother to put this in my sidebar as Laura will pull them down soon. She has been upset about copyright violations and her freebies stay up only for very, very short periods of time. If you like these, grab them now :-) Click on "NEW" to the left of the page the link takes you to, and there they are!

I got in the bead sets today for Mirabilia's Madonna of the Garden and Titania, Queen of the Fairies, as well as L&L's Celtic Autumn that I picked up on ebay... good deals!!

Isabelle, I really wish I could show you a picture of my new haircut, as you asked.... but.... well, the window of opportunity is gone. You see, I cannot get my hair to style the way Markie, the stylist in Boston, did it. I am terribly challenged here. I liked my hair better before the cut at this point. As I have aged, my once lovely straight hair has gotten very, very wavy. I cannot find any hair product that will straighten the waves out, despite all the promises on the bottles. Ah, I must figure this out. I was back in a headband again today!! Geesh! I think I will go and get it re-cut with shorter bangs/something like bangs just to make styling easier.

Red Sox 6, Angels 3 :-)

Stitched on today: 17th Century Irish Garden at work, and Legends of the Dragons

I stitch the other way. \\\\ then ////. I don't know why I just started doing it that way when I taught myself and now always do it that way. So I guess I'm in the minority. :{

That question gave me pause because I'm self-taught too.

PS: I was checking out your current rotation pictures and I wanted to know what the last picture in the column is? When I click on it to enlarge it, Mermaid Heaven pops up but it looks like a heart sampler?

Ha! Yes that's me at Sturbridge :) And yes it was COLD! (But I'm always cold).

The Legends border looks great, I'm so glad you suggested the Waterlilies, I like the colors a lot more as well.

About the stitching direction, I started out stitching \\\ then /// because the kit I had in the picture looked like it went that way. Since then after a mix of round robins I've had to switch directions a lot and now I mostly stitchin /// then \\\. As long as i'm consistent I don't care. ;)

Legends is looking great and so is Miracle Butteryfly. I can't believe you've done so much of her and she is looking fab.

I see you have the same scanner problems as me (only I blame my scanner not me lol).

Looking good! When I taught myself, I did what the book told me which was to start in the lower left hand corner. I guess the symbols would be.... ///then \\\
