The snow day that wasn't...

All week long, the forecasters were calling for a whole lot of snow. Sure, they covered themselves by saying "it looks like" a lot of snow... But, we didn't get any. Mind you, I am not complaining! But off to work I went, when I thought I would be able to work on Medieval Town Mandala at home instead! Tonight I stuck to the plan, and put more time in on the Garden Spot Sampler SAL. What I think are strawberries are now finished. I only took a photo of the area I worked on tonight. You have already seen the rest

Some good stash came in today. I received a fat quarter of Silkweaver Lilac Ice 28 ct Reflections lugana as a trade with Barbara - I think this may be just right for Celtic Spring. And Barbara sent me a surprise of two skeins of overdyed floss as well. Thanks Barbara!!!!! I also received the most recent issue (Issue 35) of Cross Stitch Gold, which did not fit into my photo well at all - so you can't see the Leslie Teare angel pictured in the upper right corner of the magazine... I really want to stitch her, so here she is...
You might recognize her - she adorns the cover of a popular book of fairy cross stitch charts. And... my kit for Egypt Garden came in as well... I opted to get the sand belfast instead of the antique white. Anne says she will SAL with me on this one - that will be great! SALs are the only way I get things done efficiently :-)

While watching to see if the 2005 holiday freebie was up yet on MLI's website, I noticed today that she has a new chart release, Evangeline. She writes that this is in response to Hurricane Katrina. I think that is such a lovely thought, but sadly, I am not fond of the design.... thought I would share this for other lovers of MLI's work, though.

And, it is New DVD Release Tuesday, right? Got Fantastic 4 this time, already watched it tonight. Tiny piece of insignificant trivia for you - I went to high school with Michael Chiklis, who plays Ben Grimm, aka The Thing, in the film... Andover High School Class of 1981, Andover, MA. Exciting, right? LOL!

Stitched on today: Garden Spot Sampler

Hi Carol, I spotted this yesterday and thought exactly the same, not my cuppa tea at all :( And thank you, your parcel arrived too!! Love the fabbie, thanks for the thread, and the treat too, was over the moon to see it - yay!
Will get back to you about my part of our trade very soon. Oh yes, I would love to do a SAL for Nature's Alphabet II sometime, lets pencil it in for sometime early next year? (thats if we can fit it in!!)

I have to say that it's kind of a strange looking design somehow, which is too bad.

Have to admit, this is not 'me' either ... there are some of the L&L designs that I adore, and some that just don't do it for me ... this is definitely one of the latter. Phew, finally a chart that doesn't get added straight to my wishlist ;) LOL. As for Egyptian Garden - would love to SAL with you ... let me know if you want to organise a 'set time' to stitch - I'm happy to do that and adjust my rotation to fit it in :) I've only done the first 10 hours of it so far, so it'll only take you a day to catch up ;) This is the first time I've ever stitched using Gloriana silks ... I'm seriously in love!!! What a beautiful thread to stitch with ... {contented sigh} ;)

GSS is looking great, Carol! You are coming right along :)

The "S" word is possible in our forecast tomorrow night/thursday morning...it's very uncommon for SC, but I can tell you I DO NOT LIKE SNOW!!!!

I don't care for the new MLI either. It looks strange to me!

hugs :)

Carol, I'm the same way you mentioned, about SAL'ing being the best way I get things done. Otherwise, it's just kind of "hit & miss." It's the support and incentive of a SAL that keeps me on a project.

Yet another great pile of stash! You get the most wonderful goodies.

I agree the new MLI is definately not in my taste range. Great progress on Garden spot though. Great stash!

Your Garden Spot Sampler is coming along nicely. I get more and more tempted to stitch it myself every time I look at yours.

Shame on you for posting a link to the Egypt Garden Sampler! What is a weak stitcher like me supposed to do in the face of such temptation??? That's just soooo gorgeous.

I came across Evangeline yesterday as well. I haven't decided what my opinion is yet. I like the design, but don't think I'd like to stitch it.

Sorry that you were disappointed by the lack of snow. I hate when the forecasters get our hopes up for nothing!

It's been a while sice I caught up on your blog Carol, great to see that you are moving along on a lot of projects. I am always impressed at the amount of stitching that you do. The L&L piece... I thought she looked angry. I am not a L&L fan, but I can usually appreciate a nice design and this one did nothing for me at all.

Love your new goodies too....
