Wind and Rain

I was very lucky today! Around noon we had a huge burst of rain and heavy wind. It was forecasted and very expected. I was parked in front of my office building along the street, and a psychiatrist I work with had her Honda parked in front of my Jeep. The wind dislodged something from the roof of the old building we work in and a huge piece of metal flew down to the sidewalk. It missed my Jeep, but grazed her Honda. Yikes! I sure was lucky today!! What amazing January weather we are having!
Yikes, I have to start taking photos of Celtic Winter somewhere else! Lying it on the floor of the computer room is not the place for it - the fabric looks so.... yucky! I will try for a better shot next week! Anyhow, here is this week's progress :-) I quit early, though. My sinuses are acting up and my throat is sore again. I just want to drink some tea and watch a little TV with Mike now...

Yep, I am on a bit of a stash diet, it is true... yet, the mailman delivered goodies today! Hey, I didn't say I was quitting cold turkey LOL! I do still have a pulse! I got in a custom cut of Golden Harvest 36 ct edinburgh linen from Silkweaver that I had ordered in December for Fouroaks Designs' A Love Song (it was delayed because they were out of the base fabric at the time that I ordered it). And, I got in a nice 15" x 16" cut of Silkweaver's Romantic Interlude on 40 ct Newcastle Linen. I love 40 ct for samplers :-) I managed to pick this one up on ebay for a great deal! I also got in something I can read tonight while I have my tea - Nordic Needle's newest catalog! Yay! I don't order from them often, so this should not hurt my stash diet much! (The catalog just so happens to have Fouroaks Designs' A Love Song right there on the cover - how timely!). I, like Becky, could probably have bought a house, or at least a car, with what I spend on stash (ha, ha - only kidding Mike!!).

Q. Have you had a happy dance yet this year? If so, tell us about it!
(Or just point to the entry that talks about it.) If not, when do you
predict it will be?

A. Nope, none, unless you count that I finished Part 1 of Mystery IX and Part 4 of Medieval Town Mandala... but those are really only partial "happy dances" (OK, I admit, I am not fond of that term....). I am a rotation stitcher and lean towards large projects, so I have been busy but not finishing yet. I really don't know when my next finish will be... but I figure it will probably be Celtic Winter, but who knows??

Whew Carol, you were lucky! That rain was wild here too. I certainly held my breath until my son came home from classes today (36 mile round trip).

We also had a ton of rain and wind today. Almost lost power at work, and me going out to the van when DH came to pick me up..well let's say I was lucky I didn't get blown away..Take care of yourself! Having sinutitus, I know sinus problems are torture. Plenty of mint tea or which ever you prefer and plenty of rest.

Glad to hear you survived your wild weather. It is quite hot here in Manila, a bit of wind and rain would be nice. I watched a tv show recently, the Queer Eye for a Straight Guy, aka The Fab Five, they had the Red Sox on and they gave them a make over. They also played a game with a little league team which field had been damaged by bad weather and raised $10,000.00 to fix it up. It was a fun show to watch. GO THE RED SOX!!!! Happy Stitchen. This is coming along so nicely!

I totally agree with you about the 40 ct. fabric. I'd stitch just about everything on it if I could. Unforutunately, it doesn't work for projects that have beads and such.

Oh Carol, I am so pleased to hear you are ok. CW is looking stunning. I found a Needlecraft Store by mistake today (took the wrong turning and got lost) and popped in. Oh was I tempted to purchase the chart, but I have seen it cheaper elsewhere. Your progress on her just makes me want to stitch her so much.

Carol, CW is coming along so nicely. Let me know when to get my happy dancing shoes out. :) I'm gald that you are ok after the storm. We didn't get it as bad as I though we would down here.

Carol, CW is looking great. We had the high winds as well but mixed with snow which made it blizzard like and we had a travel advisory.

WOW, we had those winds with some damages (and numerous power outages)around our county on Tuesday...I was a little nervous for awhile as you could REALLY hear it and feel it. I know that one lady in our county had her car damaged while she was shopping-a billboard type sign blew onto it and destroyed it. Some homes had roof damages and lot's of tree damage. I am glad to know you are ok as well as your vehicle! I just hope it isn't a sign of "winds" to come!

CW is looking more beautiful with each post :) It won't be long now until you are finished :) BEEutiful!

Take care and I hope you feel better. I am still feeling under the weather, but I do think I am starting to feel better :)

Carol, I "buy" half my stash by admiring yours (and sparing my wallet) so when you do go cold turkey, warn me!

We've been talking about the neighborhood RR taking on an 8th. Would you send me an email? Thanks!

Scary weather Carol, glad to hear that you're ok :) CW is looking great - a definate Happy Dance coming up in the not so distant future perhaps? I'm back on mine in next week's rotation, I've missed working on her while I've been stitching on the mermaids, and I'm up to all those gold swirls too, lol. PS: thanks for the enabling about the SW Precious Metals, it would be perfect for a Christmas spirit, umm, perhaps thats what I could use my GC for :)
