Yep, it's a rhubarb :-)

Hmmm... as for my strange plant that I posted yesterday, here is a link I found at Dave's Garden website, to which I am also a regular contributor, of a Himalayan Rhubarb - these blooms look just like mine (mine is more in a bud stage than this, but this is what they open up to each year). So, whether or not mine is actually Himalayan requires more research, but it does appear to be a rhubarb! I love all the replies you ladies sent me about this - thanks so much! I have never been "into" rhubarb, so I am out of my element with this plant :-) It appears we shall have to move it to a more open area as it can grow to 6-8'!!

Ho-hum, I guess... another Garden Spot Sampler update - just a small scan of the area I have been working on...
Mike took some photos of our house over the weekend, while it was sunny and warm out. Now we have a week of rain... Anyhow... here you see my little green babies are starting to peek up from under the mulch... and some new phlox and a rose bush sit on the walkway just waiting for me to find time to plant them :-)

Stitched on today: Papillon Creations Mystery Sampler (already broke into the back up skein of Indigo Ocean that I ordered last week!) and Garden Spot Sampler

Is it an edible rhubarb? I am a huge fan of rhubarb and apple pie and rhubarb crumble (good old stodgy puddings- yum).
BTW Emerald Garden is looking marvellous!

Ahhhh rhubarb, I can't stand the stuff - but my Dad always makes some, with jelly (his own recipe I imagine! LOL) for him and my DH when we go there for dinner. We have a plant, that came from Dad's plant, that came from my Grandad's (mother's father) plant ... I'd be sentimentally sad if it died, even if I hate the stuff! LOL

You definitely have to mix rhubarb with strawberries and lots of sweetener. I have some here that was 'left behind' by the former residences. I tend to forget about it as it's in the veggie patch. It sure has it's own distinctive taste though. Gee, I just got buy 1 get 1 free strawberries, so I better pick some rhubarb. : )

Oh what a beautiful home and peaceful setting!

That is the most bizarre rhubarb I've seen though!!

How wonderful to have a rhubarb! We have one in our country house - it makes the most fantastic pies! :D
I love your house and garden :) Lucky you and Mike! :)

It's an ornamental one then Carol.

Your house looks lovely, so idyllic.

Oh my goodness, Carol, this is where you live? Funnily enough, this is the sort of house I had in mind when I saw your address! You must be a very happy bunny. And rhubarb, too! Not that I care for rhubarb. It always looks so apetizing, but then when I taste it, it's always such a disappointment!

Lovely house and flowers!

LOL about Roo-bahb--I moved from Mass. to the south also and I miss hearing things pronounced the "right way." Remember Earnie Bock saying "if there's not a stick-a on it, it's yah cah?" We grew rhubarb at home and my mom always stewed it with lots of sugar and we ate it cold, for dessert.

I'm just catching up from all of your posts over the weekend. Sounds like you had a really fun time at Celebrations and you and Mike caught a great game at Fenway! What an exciting weekend!

MTM is coming along and Emerald Garden looks like you'll be happy dancing in the near future. Great job!

I love your house! It reminds me a lot of my house, including external color scheme and layout. I just wish that my yard was half as nicely landscaped and cared for as yours is! LOL. Beautiful!

Wow, what a lovely house you have. With all those trees, do you have any suggestions for pretty shade plants? We have full shade at our house.

Great progress on GS.
