The Final Countdown

Jo and I are finally down to the final legs of the Garden Spot Sampler SAL now. I think it is really starting to come together beautifully. Initially, I did not care for the VC silk conversion, but now as it is coming together it is looking much better... We should be done with this this month at this rate, don't you think Jo? Then we can start our Paradigm Lost SAL! Yes!
Time to share a family photo :-) This one was taken outside of Longhorn Steak House after our large meal that followed the dance recital on Sunday, June 4th... From left to right: Andre, my SIL's brother; Erin, my niece - still in costume from her cheerleading themed tap dance routine; Nicole, my middle niece who quit dance a couple of years ago; Ruth, my mother; Renee, my SIL; Scott, my brother; and in the back... me (I was kind of hiding!). Mike took the photo, and Caitlin had already been driven back up to the high school as she was also to dance in the evening performance... she wasn't much in the mood to talk or be with adults that day anyhow, she was just dying to get back to her friends (age 17, who is surprised?? LOL).

And, here is a photo Mike took of Nicole and I outside of the dance recital that I am rather fond of... Nicole and I are most alike in personality in the family, even though she is the one niece that physically takes after her mother's side of the family. I can even get her to pick up a needle once in a while! The black hair, however, is an adolescent experiment from a dye bottle... we figure it is better than a tattoo!

It's New DVD Release Tuesday, of course - our new ones are Underworld: Evolution (for Mike) and Firewall (mostly for me)...

Stitched on today: Quaker Sampler and Garden Spot Sampler

Everytime I see your updates on Garden Spot Sampler I want to start mine! A friend has finished Paradigm Lost and has it framed in a gold frame. It a tremendous piece to view. Saw it again last Fri. and she remarked the wall that it's on is a tad too small. I have offered my livingroom wall but so far it's still in her house. It's HUGE. Annemarie and Barbara have both seen pictures. Maria S.

Your Garden Spot Sampler is gorgeous. I was looking through your future projects lists and laughing at someone who has more projects in line than me! We share many of the same patterns - I too am a Birds of a Feather lover - have completed the Kindness Begets Kindness and Good Things and am working on Peace Sampler right now. Also working on Good Huswife June Morning which is a challenge for me - despise working with black linen, but love the look.

At first I was going to chastise you for hiding yourself in the background, Carol! But you more than redeemed yourself by including the second lovely picture of you and Nicole. :D
My older daughters have played with their hair color and as long as it isn't blue, I don't wince. And even if they did dye it blue, I'd console myself that it's not permanent and better than a tattoo that pretty much is, lol! So far no tattoos or piercings.

Nice pictures, Carol, though you shouldn't have hidden yourself in the family photo. ;) Your GSS is looking great and it's wonderful that you can see the finish line! What a tremendous effort you and Jo have put into this huge piece!
