Started Karen's RR

I started Karen's Round Robin tonight. I realized I didn't seem to have any Chamomile GAST in my stash, so I placed an order for some at Down Sunshine Lane - Amy is always so notriously quick with shipping, so I don't anticipate any problem with getting the floss soon. I started with the tree, and the house will go to its left... then it appears I will have a lot of sky left over - gulp! The blocks appear to be about 112 stitches x 112 stitches. This tree is 60 stitches and looks so wee. I will figure something out, and even ask Karen for her advice.

I heard from Cathy today that she has received my Summer Quaker Exchange from the SBEBB. What a relief! This was the first time that I have sent anything overseas since the USPS changed its rates and discontinued Global Priority Mail. I used the fixed rate Priority Mail, which is more expensive than it used to be. Instead of 3-5 days, this took 9. Oh, USPS!!! Anyhow, I was really thrilled when Becky emailed me Cathy's name for the exchange. I sent her a packet of goodies that can be seen on her blog. I was really happy when I looked at her wishlist and she needed some DMC... which was on sale at AC Moore that week! I had a short day at work and could not wait to get out that day and go buy a bunch of the floss she wanted - LOL!!! I agonized over what to stitch for Cathy, and finally chose:

August Quaker Biscornu

The Workbasket

36 ct White Edinburgh Linen, Sugar Maple Fabrics Candy Floss

Is anyone interested in buying some Ginghers? Mike has the 4" Cheetahs, Glorys, Julias... and the gorgeous new Marias.... all available! Let me know! His prices are low!!

Stitched on today: Finished a gift, and started Karen's Neighborhood RR (Group One)

They discontinued Global Priority? Why?? What's going on with the mail systems? They've also made changes here that are anything but convenient or helpful. In fact, it all seems geared to drive the price up even further. :(

I like your RR so far, Carol! Looks great!

They changed our postal pricing system last year as well and of course, it's now more expensive for most things :(

Love the biscornu you made for Cathy - very summery!

Isn't it awful how the USPS rates have gone sky high? And then each time you mail something they still ask "wouldn't you like to send this express?" I THINK NOT!!
Love your RR - these neighborhood RRs are so wonderful.
Your quaker biscornu is lovely and I'm sure Cathy will be thrilled.
I noticed on Barbara's blog that you might be interested in a Quaker Friendship RR. If you're looking for 'friends' think of me.

Carol that's a stunning biscornu - absolutely gorgeous! I agree the postal system is going to the dogs - here in the UK it's all about cuts, and things take so long to get anywhere now! Hope your chamomile arrives soon as I'm looking forward to seeing Karen's RR completed. And, also, a belated congratulations from me on both PL and Bordeaux Wine - you've done an amazing job on them both!

Great start on the RR, it looks so nice, I'd add some birds in the sky or something, that'd fill it in :)

Your biscornu is adorable! I love it, great work.

You've gotten a nice start on Karen's RR, and the biscornu you made for Cathy for the exchange is lovely, such soft colors. You post so many wonderful finishes I don't know how you find time to do them all.

Thank you so much for the beautiful birthday fob that you sent me, I couldn't believe it when I got my mail and found such a wonderful surprise.

Beautiful work as always Carol. I hear you when it comes to mail service. I am getting the run around between Canada Post and Canada Customs over round robin pieces. I was charged tax on a RR. They both collect their money but don't communicate with each other. I am trying to get a straight answer out of one of them on how to label the packages.
