What An Afternoon

I have a little bit of progress tonight on Houses of Hawk Run Hollow, after a bit of a late start. I got myself a bit wrapped up in finishing my project for the Little Critters Exchange on the SBEBB. And I was distracted by watching the Home Run Derby tonight... but I am sticking to getting something done each week on HOHRH :-)

What an afternoon! I saw a terrible auto accident unfold right in front of me on my way home this afternoon. I was heading east on a small divided highway. Each side has two lanes, and there are Jersey barriers (aka concrete barriers) in the median for safety. I was poking along, deep in thought, and was approaching my exit. As I signaled to turn off the highway, my left eye caught a horriffic scene unfolding in the west bound lane. A car lifted into the air, cut across its lane and slammed very hard into the concrete barrier. Had the barrier not been there, it would have landed in front of me, or worse. I immediately pulled over on the ramp, put on my four way flashers and dialed 911. While doing so, I saw the lady behind me and several people in the west bound lane all doing the same thing. After doing that, I realized I was in a position on the ramp that could lead to another accident, and I knew a lot of people were there already by the car and the calls were made, so I had to leave. About ten minutes later, I had to drive under the highway right about where the crash site was as we had to take Mike's Corvette to the mechanic, and the road was no longer backed up. The paramedics, police and tow must have gotten there mighty fast! Whew!!! I hope the driver is OK!!! It was hard to tell, but his/her head was not in the windshield or on the steering wheel, and I know one of the drivers who pulled over in the west bound lane was communicating (or trying to) with the driver when I left... sigh. I will be dreaming about that horriffic sight for days...

I am going to cheer myself up with a daylily from over the weekend - a miniature called Bette Davis Eyes.

Stitched on today: Started a gift, finished Little Critters Exchange project, and Houses of Hawk Run Hollow

How horrible to witness such a nasty accident, I know I would have been quite upset and shaken by something like that.

Lovely progress on HoHRH, it's looking great.

Wow, the road crews are fast there! An accident like that here would've had traffic backed up for at least a full hour (and I know, because they seem to happen daily). I'm very relieved you were not involved - phew!!

What a terrible thing to see happen. Hope your dreams aren't filled with it all, bad enough seeing it once.

Love your day lilies as always.

Sometimes it takes a moment like that to make us realize how quickly life can change.

I'm so glad you weren't involved in the accident!

Sounds traumatic! Sounds like things were ok with the driver-I sure hope so!
Being in a car accident as a young woman, I relive that time once in a while. I was a passenger in a VW bug and not wearing a seatbelt. I did get hurt in the face-fractured nose and cuts (blacked out from hitting the windowshield), but I am here to tell about it. Wear your seat belts people!

Oh goodness! I have to say that I really hate cars, though I do enjoy driving. Always watching out for other drivers gets tiring. There are so many near-misses on the road every day, I try not to think about it. Think good, stitchy thoughts. :)

What a horrible thing to see, that would give you nightmares. Thank goodness for the barrier. I hope that the driver did not end up seriously injured.

Your flower is beautiful, it is so dry here right now that flowers in our area are not doing so well anymore.
