Grateful Hearts Exchange for Julianne/Fair and Square for Wendy...

A banner day today! Two exchanges I sent off recently have been received! I am still waiting for word on the Harvest House exchange. It should have been received by now, but no word....

First, Julianne has already received the Grateful Hearts Exchange. I can show you what I stitched, but we will have to wait until she can post a photo of the entire exchange, since, as always, I did forget to take a photo of the goodies too! Julianne, what a sweet email you sent me! I am so glad you like it, as it was so much fun to stitch this for you!

Four Little Hearts Biscornu

Indigo Rose

32 ct Lambswool Jobelan, DMC Floss

I stitched the same design on the back, using only DMC 712...

And a side view, since I find photographing biscornus to be quite difficult... top views don't look right, and side views don't show much...LOL

Also, the lovely Wendy received my Fair and Square exchange for her today... oh Wendy, I am so happy that you like my choice - and thank you too for the wonderful email today!! Wendy likes Prairie Schooler very much, and since we are in a Neighborhood Round Robin together, selecting a chart for her was easy. She told me she had never seen this old PS freebie (c. 1990) before, so I was really happy I could surprise her!

Grey Home Sweet Home

The Prairie Schooler

Wichelt 32 ct Chantilly Country French Linen, DMC Floss

I worked on Bine's Neighborhood Round Robin again tonight... looks more like a house now!! I had to photograph it without flash, thus the blurriness and the house I am stitching looks black/blue when it is really red (Crescent Colours Bandana). I should be able to finish this and get it to Nikki by the next mailing date on 10/1.

Good news! I got to visit some blogs today! My reader says I still have 200+ to go, but the dent I made today was so uplifting - so far, it appears you are all doing well :-) I have missed you, and thank you for your kind words of support.

For those who asked, I emailed Vikki to let her know I am not going to have enough OMG Red to finish VQ. I let her know I am using 36 ct linen and am a very frugal stitcher who wastes no floss. She said she knows of 30 stitchers, at least, who have stitched this with one skein. Now, since I will barely get to the 3/4 mark on high count linen, I was stymied. She is, however, happy to send me another skein gratis. I am not sure how 30 stitchers could have done that... they must have stretched their silk extra thin?? (I am kidding, I know you cannot do that! LOL)

Stitched on today: Autumn Quaker Exchange project, and Bine's Neighborhood Round Robin

More great progress Carol. Everything is great and you did a fine job photographing the biscornu! I like the beaded edge.

Great job on the exchanges you did. The RR is looking good.

Very interesting regarding the silk from Vikki Clayton. I am using it to do VOHRH and will be very interested to see how I come out on floss since I am doing it on 32 and the model was done on 36 and that is probably what she figured the amounts from.

It's a mystery, Carol, but how kind of Vikki to send you a new skein for free.
Love the exchanges, as always. Your finishing is so neat. I'm never going to finish anything for you ever again. Do it yourself! I'm officially too nervous now.

Maybe you were short-changed on your actual skein length? It can happen. I put a skein of DMC back on the shelf in Hobbycraft recently because it was a LOT thinner than the rest. There was no way it was a full skein. We would never know though would we. I mean how many of us actually measure our thread length?

Your biscornu is gorgeous Carol. I love that you put so much effort into each and every gift and exchange you do. All the beads round the edge - such a great finishing touch.

Lovely exchanges Carol! I'm glad you were able to work out the silk problem with Vikki so you can finish up VQ.

I finally got my reader down to zero new posts last night, but I'm almost dreading going on vacation next week. The though of how many new posts will be on the reader from the 5 days I'll be gone is intimidating.

Your Indigo Rose piece is so sweet. Great idea about stitching it twice in a solid colour!. I once bought a skein of GAST and instead of 6 plies there were only 5! Figure that one out. They sent me a new skein gratis and it was 6 ply.

Very strange but, I'm glad Vicky is sending you a new skein of floss.

Glad your back up and running in your blog reading. I know you'll make a dent in that 200 in now time.

Gorgeous exchange, love how you did the bottom in one colour

I love how you did the bottom of your biscornu tone on tone. Looks fabulous!

Is OMG red "Oh My God" red, or does it have another name? I can't think of it as anything else.

Carol, your biscornu is so very pretty! Do you bead as you whip stitch it together? Must take a lot of time. I love that PS free design, shame it's no longer on their website. I also love the neighbourhood RR.

The biscornu is beautiful! I agree with Anna, the tone on tone on the bottom is so pretty! Glad you are getting another skein of your red. How weird that other people had no problems with running out. Perhaps elves multiplied their silk at night - I'd better get me some elves!!

Carol your heart biscornu turned out beautiful and the little house for the square exchange is very cute. Your Quaker piece is so lovely I'm glad that you're able to get more of the silks you need to finish it. It does seem odd that you would end up so short when so many others have not had the problem, makes you wonder if somehow your skein had a little less than normal or something. That's great that she'll send you some more and that she delivers so quickly.

I've gotten so far behind on blogs and commenting, but I have been thinking of you. Glad to hear the big project is finally at an end and that you'll have more free time. However, looking at all the items you've posted you've gotten so many lovely projects worked on. I think my favorite was the little dog house you made for Amy, that is just to cute. I hadn't seen anything quite like it before, it's adorable. Your Clam Shack also turned out wonderful, so perfect for your area of the states. Haven't heard anything on Angus for a bit, hope he is still doing well for you.

Carol,

Thanks again for a beautiful exchange! I just love the biscornu and have been using it to park my needles. It sure is handy.

I love that biscornu - four little hearts is one of my favourite charts and I have only ever made if for gifts - really must do something about that! I love how you made the top and bottom different - so you could display it depending on your mood!

A beautiful biscornu Carol. I liked it so much I found my chart of this and have decided to stitch it like now!! I see you are in Simone's 2007 Ornament Exchange - me too. I am looking forward to seeing everyone's handiwork.
