It was a quiet Sunday around here, and I had the chance to get quite a few stitching things done. Not the least of which, I was able to finally finish Part 1 of the Long Dog Mystery Sampler.

And, I made some more progress on Rachael's Neighborhood Round Robin. The lighthouse and keeper's house are backstitched now and I began adding some of Liz Turner Diehl's fencing... I love it, and now my plans for the entire block are starting to gel a little bit in my mind. That odd shape in the bottom center will be a gate with an anchor motif on it - very cute. I look forward to picking this up again soon. My only dilemma is how to add water of some sort to this and not run into the block to the right, which has very different looking water. So, I left some space to the right of the upper fence to add a tree or something to break up the horizon line... we'll see what happens :-)

Congrats on finishing Part 1! It looks super. Love the 17th Century Dutch Garden chart which has taken your fancy - I've been to the Keukenhof Gardens too (it was like wandering around in a vividly coloured dream!).
ReplyDeleteI love it Carol. Just as I imagined it. Can't wait to see what else you come up with. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteI love that fencing, Carol - it is so very "New England" that it makes me homesick! I'm really curious to see how you incorporate the water. Great work so far!
ReplyDeleteAnd your mystery sampler is lovely. The colors in this are just so cheerful.
You are doing great with all your progresses. Congratulations! Ann.
ReplyDeletePart one is gorgeous. Didn't you do your own thread conversion? Love the round robin too! Glad you had such a productive Sunday.
ReplyDeleteYour lighthouse looks bigger with the backstitching complete on it. It looks good next to the house. The colors in the sampler are so pretty. I can't wait to see the rest of it come to life.

Love your progress on the Long Dog Mystery piece. I'm so tempted to start this one! Are you going to be at Celebrations on Friday? I'm planning to take the day off and meet Red.....
ReplyDeleteThe lighthouse and keepers cottage look very cute, and the Long Dog is lovely. I looked at the recent issue of the magazine, and really like the new part with the little mice on it, this will be gorgeous when done.
