Driven to Distraction

Driven to Distraction... it's not just the title of a rather excellent manual on treating ADHD that I do use often with my clients and parents of clients, but rather it was how my night went relating to my stitching. I was distracted by the book I am reading (The Queen's Fool by Philippa Gregory - it is just getting too good right now to put down), by trying to get HoE polished up a bit, by DH's needs.... sigh... finally, late in the evening I was able to get a wee bit done on A Quaker Christmas. Where is the progress, you ask? Oh, down under the K there.... I told you it was wee! LOL This is my personal daily stitching journal that other people just happen to read, so I am not ashamed to show only wee progress ;-)

As soon as I got up tonight from stitching, my chair was taken over! Ava, on the left, was there on her side of the chair all evening... but Lily joined in as soon as she could. Sorry about her eye glare. This photo shows the huge difference between my two calicos. Ava is a calico - true red, black and white (she is actually show quality), while Lily is a dilute calico - cream, blue and white.... they have the same father, different moms. Anyhow... Wendy asked what breed these babies are. All of my cats are persians. Four of the six, including these two girls shown, are considered to be "exotics" - their heads are bigger, bodies a bit more big boned... all except for Beau are from the same breeder. Beau and Angus are standard persians (Angus' father is a seal point Himalayan, but that does not alter Angus' status as a persian since, well, Himalayan refers only to markings). Enough of that. Someone also commented that Ava appears to be small. You know, all six of my cats are small... quite small... from 6 lbs to 10 lbs.... small!!

Oh, I received lovely mail today! I received the Spring Exchange from Sharon today, and a box of gifts from my friend Ann. I cannot wait to show you, but it was so dark and rainy here today that I could not get good photos. I will try again tomorrow.

Stitched on today: Stitched on Spring Exchange for Myrna, and stitched on A Quaker Christmas **Gayle, DH mailed your fabrics today via Priority Mail with tracking :-)

Your cats are so cute! I love calicos, especially 'diluted' Lily. I'd love to have a cat or three, but unfortunately I just can't keep them at the moment. And I don't think my budgie overlords would appreciate it either.

QC is nearly finished - it's gorgeous.

Love your cats - I use to have a pure white Persian with yellow eyes (think Michael Jackson - Thriller) and also a Black Smoke Persian but unfortunately both are now gone. I am thinking of maybe getting a Ragdoll at some point this year.

Sometimes I'm not sure which I enjoy more - photos of your gorgeous stitching, or of your beautiful kitties. :)

If the rain that happened here yesterday is in your neck of the woods today...you'll need to shoot pictures on Friday ;) LOL!

We had rain and storms of biblical proportions all day yesterday and I'm not kidding! Biblical...Noah swam by as I was looking out the window!

Your quaker is looking so pretty Carol and your cats are adorable! I told my DH that if we were to ever get pets THOSE are the cats I want to get..we are still in the debating mode.

You are getting so close to finishing this one! And of course the kitties love to take over a nice warm, newly vacated spot.

I read the Queen's Fool a few months back and thoroughly enjoyed it!

I meant to comment on Ava the other day...

She looks so tiny! And it's interesting that her main color is the the lighter color...most callies/torties have the darker color as the main color.

I love seeing pictures of your kitties!

The girls look so cute together.

It's been cloudly down here for days. I don't think we are going to see the sun out here again for a while.

Oh I do so love seeing pictures of your cats Carol! I'm a big Persian lover and grew up with a red tabby, white odd-eyed and a blue Persian. I'm currently the owner of a seal lynxpoint Ragdoll. Or is he the owner? Lol!

Some nights are like that. Glad you got a little stitching done anyway - with help! I don't know a thing about Persians (until now). I grew up with Siamese, and then had Hamlet, the Maine Coon. My other two (Romeo and Othello) are just shorthairs, no specific breed.
