Improved Sampler

I noticed late last night while I was finishing Be Kind and True that the lower right corner of the chart is probably wrong... the rhythm of the pattern of the border suddenly changed. At first, I went with it. Then I tried to adjust it but was not focused well... Today, I pulled out the bottom right corner, used the front of the chart as my guide (the model stitcher must have seen the mistake too)... and now my sampler is fixed and correct... Here it is!

Thanks for all of your wonderful comments on this sampler. The linen is the called for linen - and yes, it is super pretty. Someone asked what will be next... I do have a small-medium sized sampler selected to start next... just waiting for the linen to arrive ;-)

So, where was I before I got sidetracked and started Be Kind and True? Ah yes - Houses of Hawk Run Hollow has not been out since February 1st - welcome back :-)

Happy Valentine's Day

Happy Valentine's Day to all of my blogging and stitching friends. I really had plans to send out e-cards today... but work was super busy, and time melted away! However, you are all in my thoughts and I appreciate you all so much. I hope you enjoyed your day :-)

The house is finished now on Be Kind and True. There is very little left to do now, and I am hoping for a weekend finish :-)

Just as my colleague was laid to rest today, here we go with another murder of a therapist, this time in Manhattan, NY - and very guesome, indeed. Oh my gosh!

So, on a much brighter note... I wanted to see Brad Paisley on the David Letterman Show a couple of nights ago, but I didn't want to/could not stay up late enough to see it. I recorded it on the DVR, but when I played it back, the DVR cut off and ended in the middle of the song... but I found it on You Tube today, and I really enjoyed it... so, I figured I would share. Gotta love Brad Paisley - what a charmed life he has - a Grammy, a couple of CMAs (or a few), married to the gorgeous Kimberly Williams-Paisley, new baby son... what a lucky and talented guy!

Another E

I heard from Elaine (sorry, no blog) this morning that she received a little gift that I made for her. Another E fob, two days in a row :-)

I went right back to Be Kind and True for a while tonight. This sampler is moving along so quickly, and right now I am in the midst of the busy work of filling in the house. Thank you all for your sweet words on this sampler.

Touches of Spring

My additions to Be Kind and True today made me think of spring :-) Winter has a very firm grip on the Northeast this year. It looks like we have either bitter cold days or snowy days coming up as far as the eye can see... five more weeks until spring... I wonder if even then it will warm up, which may mean no daffodils this year. If it is too cold and snowy in March, mine will bud up and never open. Sigh...

Anyhow... back to work tomorrow!

A... B... C...

It's a snowy day week here, and after running errands in the morning, I was able to settle in and work on a gift (which is not finished yet, but I really want to mail it on Monday...) and got the partner names sent out for the HoE Biscornu Exchange... then settled in to watch NASCAR's Budweiser Shootout (another lousy night for Ryan Newman) and some movies while I stitched the alphabet on Be Kind and True. I am not sure I like the letters that are stitched in vertical stitches, as the coverage is not great. But I am sure they will be fine in th end. I couldn't wait for time to start this again today :-)

My stitching companion for the evening has been Miss Lily. She adores Mike, and spends all the time she can with him. But he went into the other room to program, and she "settled" for being with me tonight :-)

Thank you :-)

Thank you, dear friends, for your kind words and thoughts regarding the violent death of one of my colleagues. You are all so supportive and wonderful. I did stop doing homebased treatment a few years ago (except for one family), and this is one of the reasons why. More and more info is coming out about the crime... and it is really very disturbing.

I heard from Kajsa today that she has received a little birthday gift that I stitched for her. It is her actual birthday today, so Happy Birthday Kajsa! I experimented by using a dark Silkweaver Solo Belfast for this one. It is very brown. I was wondering if it was OK, but Kajsa assures me she likes and collects dark linens.... whew!

A new little start... and grievous news too

I came to the conclusion today that my current projects, excluding gifts and exchanges, are all really large. But I have a large pile of other projects that I just know won't take me long to stitch... but they keep getting pushed to the side. I decided today that I want to have a small to medium sized project from that pile worked into my rather loose rotation now. I am starting with this one, that has been staring at me, all kitted up, in the front of a clear Rubbermaid drawer in my stash for close to two years now...

Be Kind and True by Blackbird Designs - I am stitching it with all of the called for fibers on the called for R&R Reproductions 35 ct Marva's Blend linen.... and it sure is a quick start! I think I made a good decision today.

Thank you Judith! I received this lovely RAK from her today - Drawn Thread's English Garden Pocket! I saw this on her blog a while back and complimented her work. Judith said she would send it to me when she could... what a treat to receive it today. I just love it. How kind of her.

And I did say I had grievous news. I am absolutely reeling with sadness and grief. Last night, a colleague of mine was murdered by her patient! This is really hitting me hard. I heard this as Breaking News on TV last night, and had to wait for the name to be released this morning to see if I knew her... and I did. We did not work in the same building. She worked in another clinic in the same city, but I sent many of my struggling parents to her as she ran a fantastic Parenting Skills Group. This is devastating. I stopped doing home based treatment a few years ago. But such a risk as this exists anywhere...
