Fairy Update

Here it is, the project that has me completely sidetracked from my goal list this month (aside from exchanges, round robins and gifs, of course!). I am still waiting on braids and beads, and wow, the stitching feels like it is such slow going without my Ott-Lite too.... really, really need that new bulb soon :-(

And, isn't this something? I started my HoE Needle Roll Exchange earlier today, and I chose a pretty hand dyed fabric to compliment the design. I took the fabric out of the package and was amazed at how poor the back of the linen looked. This is dyed by one of the relatively popular dyers... Country Stitch. Wow, terrible! The front is quite good. That big one spot shows lightly a little on the other side, but my stitching will be dealing with that (already is covered, as I stitched quite a lot after taking the photo). Anyhow... just sharing how shocked I was to see that they sold this fabric like this.... oh my. I hope the insides of the ends of my neederoll don't end up giving a visual access to the spots!

Stitched on today: Started HoE Needle Roll Exchange, and stitched on Halloween Fairy

The Kiwi Illusions that I just did a tiny piece on also had these big blobs all over the back side. I was pretty surprised.

Your HF is stunning. I've really enjoyed watching your progress, even if I've been remiss in leaving comments.

Your Halloween Fairy is beautiful.

I cannot believe they sold fabric like that! That's one of the problems of buying fabric pre-wrapped - you can't see what you are buying. You should send them a picture and let them know

I've had fabric from Countrystitch that was quite mottled on the back and really, it didn't bother me at all. The front was fine and I've always found their fabric lovely to stitch on.

Perhaps you should contact Catherine direct if you're unhappy and give her a chance to explain or replace your fabric - I've always found her customer service to be second to none :)

Do you have a Lowe's Carol? My Ott-light bulb when out last week and I got a replacement at Lowe's. Then I also noticed that JoAnn's and Michael's also carry them. Hope it comes soon....but if your having problems, like I do without my Ott light maybe a quick stop at one of these places would solve your problem?
GOOD LUCK!
Your fairy is a beauty and this one is on my short list too :)

Your Halloween Fairy is gorgeous! Wish I had the time to do this one too.
Like Barbara, I had a piece of fabric from Kiwi Illusions which I wasn't happy with. I'd planned on using it for my CdC and was worried that the blobs would show through the fabric. I ended up having to go with another choice.

Carol
What wonderful progress on your Halloween Fairy - be careful of your eyes though.
Shame about the fabric - perhaps if you tell them they will replace and change their methods so it doesn't happen for others either

I am always surprised when I am sold a piece of fabric like that - or with obvious blobs of color that really shouldn't be there. The answer I always get is - well, it's hand-dyed fabric. But you know, I like my hand-dyeds to not have blobs or big splotches. Glad the front of your fabric is ok!!
