Thank You, Everyone... you mean a lot to us

Thank you all for your sweet words regarding the sudden loss of Mike's grandfather yesterday. Your kindness means so much to us. Mike is feeling a terrible sense of loss, and a void in his life. He has really enjoyed caring for his grandfather in recent months. Many people would shy away from the messy duties that Mike had taken on with his grandfather. It was really pretty rough in recent weeks/months. But Mike had embraced caring for his grandfather with all of his heart. Now he feels lost... in many ways...

It was a quiet day in a house of mourning. I did find a few minutes earlier today to work on my new Neighborhood Round Robin. We then went out for our anniversary dinner at The Outback. It was good to get Mike out of the house and enjoy some time in public. He enjoyed himself, so that is good. After that, I started the long awaited Spring Ride SAL, which is with Karen and Kathy. This SAL was planned out about two years ago, before Karen was even pregnant with Riley. Well, that is really the reason why the SAL did not start until now :-) Anyhow, what am I thinking of, starting another LARGE project?? But, it is such a fun stitch already. I love the use of one strand of floss throughout. It is much like stitching on Girl with Cat (which, sadly, I have been ignoring lately) - but this one is more colorful!! I know it looks a tiny bit creepy right now - an arm reaching out of nowhere. I am stitching it on white opalescent belfast... I think my camera caught a little bit of the sparkle :-)
On top of all that happened here last night, we also noticed that our Lily was limping quite badly. Her right front leg is really bothering her. Her nails are neatly clipped and showing no signs of digging into her pads. Her pads all look good too. I think she may have sprained her ankle/leg jumping off of something? We will take her to the vet, of course, if she does not get better soon. This morning, Mike turned on the heating pad and she laid right down on it for hours. After that, though, she was rambunctious again, and is still limping as a result...

Still thinking of you two....

Poor Lily, too, with her limp.

I can't tell what your new project is supposed to be, but, knowing you, it's going to be another stunner!

Carol,
Its so good that you were able to go out to dinner together for your anniversary. I will keep you in my prayers.
I have to thank you for answering a question I had indirectly. I wanted to see what Spring Ride will look like when finished (I stitch vicariously thru reading blogs!) and I discovered that the designer is the same one of a piece that I am stitching(Lazy Afternoon). I never knew what the signature said at the bottom and now I know! I mean I think I know its hard to read!lol Please take care ((hugs))

I'm very sorry to hear about Mike's Grandfather, it's especially hard when you're used to seeing someone so often and then the next week you just can't. My condolences.

I love your template with the black background, I'm not sure how long you have it, that's the problem with google reader but it looks great!

It's nice to hear that you still did something for your anniversery.

Lily has such a precious little face, it really looks like she's enjoying her heatpad. I hope she's feeling better soon.

Can't wait to see some more of your new SAL project.

Carol, Very sorry about Mike's grandfather. I am keeping you in my prayers.
I took the plunge and purchased And A Forest Grew. You are my inspiration. Oh and you will have fun with Spring Ride. I for some reason love over one stitching.

It is fun to start new projects, and your cat is so cute on the heating pad! I hope her paw gets better soon.

Poor Lily. Phoebe did something similar just the other day. She was doing her usual, silly running around and I heard a yelp out of her and then she started limping. She was much better after a day of rest, though. I hope that the same goes for Lily.

I'm glad that you were able to get Mike out of the house for a little bit. It helps to get out in the fresh air and trasnfer focus from the loss. If I lived close, I would pop in to give you some company. *hug*

Great start on Spring Ride. I hope that Lily gets better soon. I may have to take Othello in for the same thing - limping on the front leg.

I'm glad you were able to get out for a little bit. I went to Outback for the first time a week ago with my daughter and had a wonderful meal.

I hope Lily feels better soon. I have a heated mattress pad that when I turn it on my cats love to curl up and lay on. Hopefully the next time Lily rests and feels better she isn't quite so eager to go running off and irritate her leg again.

Carol, I kind of know what you are feeling as today is the 9 year anniversary of my mom passing and we have a wedding anniversary on May 16. I am so sorry that Mike lost his grandfather, I never had a grand dad and would have loved to have known that experience. Still it is a hard time and our hearts go out to you both! Your kitty is so sweet and I hope she begins to feel better. Great new start on Spring Ride! Debby :)

Please pass along condolences from my DH and I to Mike. We just attended my DH's grandmother's memorial service in AZ last weekend -- thankfully there was a lot of family there, and an uncontainable joy that always seems to accompany my DH's crazy family. Bittersweet, nonetheless...

And Mina sends a get-well "meow" to your Lily! (although she is a bit suspicious, since in our house the DOG is named Lily...LOL)
