And, this is for Barbara. Barbara has asked me a couple of times to show an updated picture of The Mermaid and the Sea. I work on this in little bits here and there at work. It is not exactly flying along at a lightning pace, but it is making progress.
I found things on the internet today that have me really wanting to save up some stash money! I found this pretty garden sampler on Liz Turner Diehl's website this morning. It is 17th Century Dutch Garden, and this will be a must stitch for me! Mike and I adored our travels to Amsterdam a few years ago, and we visited the tulip gardens there as well (OK, I don't think I can spell it, but it is something like Keukenhoff - help Annemarie or Barbara!!). Anyhow, Liz talked about designing this sampler last year at CATS.... I love it! Very colorful!
And then.... I got an email from Stitcher's Hideaway about this! This is Jeannette Douglas' teaching piece for the Sturbridge, Massachusetts retreat this summer! Born in Massachusetts and my family still lives there, this is also a must stitch for me! Jeannette really incorporated all that she could about the state! The zig zag line down the middle is the Freedom Trail and the Mohawk Trail, with Boston Common joining them. I cannot afford to go on this retreat. But, I will anxiously await its release to the public. Jeannette only waits about a year before she releases her teaching pieces. I will start saving up for this now - I imagine the embellishment and floss pack for it will be pricey.Stitched on today: Stitched on a gift, and And A Forest Grew

Thank you, Carol! I just LOVE your mermaid WIP!!!
It's Keukenhof. And that's a great design - I can certainly see why you want it. But I have to say that my heart was grabbed by the MA sampler. WOW! I lived in Boston for years and still have a soft spot for ol' Beantown.
Great progress on the Forest and the with the Mermaid! Good luck with the savings, so many nice designs out there :)
Great progress.
Why did you have to let me see the new sampler of Jeannette Douglas. I just love it and must have it now LOL
Geez, it's no wonder you can't wait to get your mitts on those designs, they're both lovely! :D At least you have plenty of stitching to keep you busy while you're waiting for them to be printed and released to the general public ;)
The Forest is so great, I love it. One of these days I am going to have to get that mermaid piece too.
Wow! Your ATFG is amazing, the Mermaid piece is great and I have to say...I've never been to MA, in fact...I've never been on the eastern seaboard PERIOD...but I want that Douglas sampler too!
the Liz Turner Diehl piece is just lovely and I can see you stitching the Jeannette Douglas piece too. That does look like a troublesome little tree on the right. I hope you can get him done quickly so you can more onto others you'll enjoy doing more.
Your forest is looking great! That is an interesting tree though:) I don't think I have ever seen one like it!
Your forest and Mermaid are really coming along. Very nice! I really like the garden design as well. What a great piece to remember your trip!

And a Forest Grew ... really is growing! That is beautiful. The Mermaid & the Sea is totally unique - love it : )
Isn't browsing dangerous to the wallet? The teaching piece is awesome! as is the garden! I'm just letting my brain gel around all the new patterns & will see what I still want in a month or two.
