Thank you all for the lovely comments on Rachael's RR! You have no idea how much they mean to me - I am not terribly confident about the whole thing!!
I heard from my Mom today that our beloved cat, Pookie, had a seizure on Thursday. Pookie had to be put down as a result. He must have been about 20 years old. Pookie was rescued as a very wee kitten from under a car at Westboro State Hospital in Massachusetts during a severe rain storm. I worked at the hospital at the time doing juvenile corrections work. His mother and other kittens were found dead on the side of the road. It is not clear if any other kittens survived, but Pookie was the lucky one. He lived a long and lovely life. My father adopted him when I was in transition when Pookie was about three years old. He had to have surgery for a condition similar to Angus' - but not as bad. He lived long after that. My father never wanted to give Pookie back to me. He was too attached. After my father passed away in 1995, Mom kept and loved Pookie dearly. He is the last of about five cats I left with her during my younger years (Pete, the red head you see at the bottom of the photo, died a couple of years ago - well over 20 years old). Pookie was a wonderful cat and we will all miss him so much!!

And a Forest Grew is really coming along. Sorry to hear about Pookie but what a great long life he had and such luck to be found and adopted by you and later your parents. It was a nice tribute you wrote in your blog. Thanks for sharing.
I am so sorry to hear about Pookie, but I think about how loved he was and I am sure he was a light to you in many circumstances. Thank you for sharing a bit about his life!
So sorry about the loss of Pookie. It sounds like he lived a long and wonderful life. 20 years is pretty good for a cat!
Also, I really like the Round Robin piece! You are so creative! :-)
Sorry to hear about your cat. It really is like losing a family member! Your round robin piece is just beautiful!
Sorry to hear about Pookie. It sounds like he had a long and wonderful life, and was much loved by all your family.
A Forest Grew is coming along great!
Bye-bye, Pookie. What a wonderful life he must've enjoyed after such a traumatic beginning. I can't imagine how much he'll be missed.
Your stitching is lovely. This is such a wonderful project!
I am sorry about Pookie, Carol. What a beautiful cat. 20 years is a wonderful age for a cat (oh, I hope Violette will stay with us for a long time! That is a pang I often have).
And A Forest Grew is just beautiful. That pear tree sure is adorable!
So sorry to hear about Pookie. What a wonderful life he lived and he was truly loved by you all {{{hugs}}}.
I'm sorry for your loss. I am sure he will be remembered and live on in your hearts. Congratulations on your progresses, you are doing great! Ann.
Carol, I am so sorry to hear about Pookie. Any pet would be lucky to be loved so much.
AAFG is looking fantastic!!
Awwww how sad about Pookie! So sad when an animal dies esp when it has lived for so long. Our cat had a stroke but survived but is deaf now , I think, as a result of the stroke. Your forest is looking amazing.
I am terribly sorry to hear of the loss of Pookie. He was a gorgeous cat. The story of his life is quite touching. Reminds me of my Tinkerbell, I had as a young girl and had to give away when I went to college...gave him to my paternal grandparents where she lived a blissful, love-filled life :)
**I'm late on this as I worked (hard) this weekend..not my usual work and dable at break it was all work both days :(
Anyhoooo....I LOVE Rachel's RR...you did an amazing job Carol...you took into consideration everything that you wanted and did a supberb job! Kudos to you friend!
I'm sorry to hear about Pookie. He was so lucky that you found him. It sounds like he had a long and happy life with both you and your parents.

Sorry to hear about the loss of your and your mum's kitty. It sounds like he had a wonderful life with you after such a rocky start.
Hugs! Sorry about Pookie. Sounds like he had a long happy life though.
Wow - And a Forest Grew is really quite a large piece, you've made amazing progress on this!
The RR came out awesome as well, lots of little touches!
Carol , I am so sorry about your dear cat. It is so hard to lose a friend especially one that has been in your life so long.
What a wonderful life he was given after such a rough start!
Take care.
I'm so sorry about Pookie.
Forest looks great!!! Love those trees : )
Aw, sorry about Pookie. Rescue pets are grateful for the chance & sounds like Pookie was showered with care & love. We have a 20yo cat, too, and I understand the attachment.
Sorry to hear about Pookie, it sounds like he had a great life.
AaFG is looking gorgeous, great progress
Pookie was a lucky cat to found such a wonderful loving home. A Forest Grew looks incredible!
Awww, I'm sorry about Pookie. He looks like such a dignified fellow in that picture and I'm sure he's happy to be reunited with his furfamily that's died before him. Hugs Carol.

So sorry to hear about Pookie. It sounds like he had a long and wonderful life, and now he's keeping your dad company in heaven :)
Dear Carol,
I'm just so sad for you about Pookie. It's awful to loose a pet. You gave him a loving home and lots of good things in his life, and I know his little spirit and his memories will give you comfort.

Hi Carol, Forest is BEAUTIFUL! All those pretty greens.
I think you did a lovely job on Rachael's RR; I especially like the red striped lighthouse ... it's a nice anchor point in the middle.
I'm so sorry to hear about Pookie. It's so hard to lose a pet, they are like family. {{hugs}}

Oh I am so sorry to hear about Pookie! It is just so hard to lose one that you have had in the family! I am glad the this kitty got a wonderful home and lived a long and happy life though. Your And a Forest Grew is really pretty!! Trees can be tedious but your are really pretty! Debby :)
It sounds like Pookie lived a wonderful, long life. What a sweetie. I hope that your mom gets another companion to share her life with her soon!
Oh dear Carol, I'm so sorry to hear of Pookie's passing. I'm always touched when I hear of the stories that our little friends have to tell and Pookie's is no exception. How lucky he was to have found you on that rainy night. It's such a pity his mummy and siblings didn't fare as well :(
I'm sorry I've been awol for such a time. You were in my thoughts though :)
The beautiful birthday gift brought tears to my eyes and I shall give it a post to itself, just as soon as I get caught up with all my bloggy friends and figure out how to hoodwink the camera into loading all my pics to the laptop, lol
Thank you Carol, you brightened my day.
