New plans for Celtic Winter

Becky and I decided today that we would both stitch our Celtic Ladies SAL on the same night. She wanted motivation to keep with it, and I also gain since I will now be less likely to put this one aside when other things "come up." Very good! This reworking of getting them done is definitely going to work! I must admit, I had great fun working on the gold swirls on her skirt tonight. I hated putting it down, and ended up stitching a bit later than I usually do!

I received my Mystery Bits for December from Stitching Bits & Bobs today - she went very pastel again this month... I hope she goes back to earthy tones soon, or blues... I much prefer those. This month is: a skein of Caron Wildflowers in Pale Lilac (I have three or four of these now - this color finds its way into my stash pretty easily LOL - fortunately, it is a good color), a skein of Dinky Dyes silk in Blue Mountains, a skein of Crescent Colours floss in Bambino, a card of Stranded By The Sea floss in Sea Honey, and a card of Glissen Gloss Colorwash Silk in 562....

Q. Have you done any charity stitching, been in one, or would like to organize one?

A. I don't like this question... here is why... I have to admit to you all that no, I have never done charity stitching :-( I am not proud of that, but on the other hand, I am otherwise very generous to charities. Even the Christmas tree I bought today was for charity purposes.... OK, I feel a little better telling you that...

Well... On Friday I am supposed to have an early morning dental hygeine appointment, immediately followed by a dental appointment downstairs to have my two permenant crowns put in... BUT... the forecast now is for a moderate to heavy snowstorm starting in the pre-dawn hours. I called the dentist yesterday - they promise not to charge me for a cancellation if it snows. Now, when can I fit this in to reschedule it? Argh. I would really like to get this over with soon. And, I heard on the news we are having much colder temps now than we should this time of year... and more storminess = not good news for the upcoming winter :-(

There's differant ways to donate to charity. Stitching for them is an option, but not everyone can do so. We can only do what we are able or willing to do. Sometimes that christmas tree, turkey dinner, winter coat, mittens etc. can mean more to someone than a stitched whatever. that probably didn't come out right, but I'm sure you'll get the gist.
Hugs!!

Celtic Winter is coming along so well :)

Dear Carol, how can you feel ashamed... You have a heart of gold. There are so many ways to give to charity and stitching is just one option. I don't believe there's a gradation in donating! Everyone to hs/her own abilities and preferences.

You mentioned once that you hated obligation stitching - it took all the fun out of stitching for you... Well if you "forced" yourself to stitch for charity, and didn't enjoy it because of the pressure... It wouldn't be that great would it? To give away something that you actually stressed over...

I oughtn't even to say all this - you don't even need justifying - I don't see how anyone could judge you!

Hugs my friend!

Wow. You are such a fast stitcher, Carol. I remember you starting CW and now it looks like there's not much left to do.

Hi, Carol, your CW is looking great! Mine is very far behind. I seem to always be picking up some other project and putting CW off.

I agree with the other people who commented that you should not feel guilty about charity stitching. I think each person should help others in the way that best fits their abilities and life style -

Happy stitching, Margaret in Maryland

I'm not a fan of pastels, but that is a very pretty arrangement. How are the Bits & Bobs mystery packs overall? Been wondering about a change from Silkweaver's FOTM...

Don't feel bad....I've not done any charity stitching, either. I agree with Isabelle - no good can come of "making" yourself stitch something. I say, stitch to your own drummer!

Yippee, you got swirls! I have to admit, that's the part of each of the Celtic ladies that draws me to them the most - the lower parts of the dresses ... just beautiful with all that gold - yummo!

Looks like I ask the wrong Q for this week SBQ. I've been preesurrized...I confess.....boo hooo in to thinking of a question. To be honest I've not done any charity stitching (NOT proud of it) or been in one..that a same answer...but would like to organize one. Don't feel bad Carol as you have done so much for others. I LOVE your Xmas card....thank you so much. :)
