Happy Easter

I decided to stick with stitching the Mystery Sampler (aka 18th Century Band Sampler) on Sundays, and I am glad I worked on it tonight. Now that I look at it, it is starting to take some form. I like the band I am working on now - a nice easy rhythm that is moving along so nicely.

Thanks for the feedback about my blog. It was good, I guess, to put that feeler out, and I am glad that so many do like the daily updates. I don't want anyone to misunderstand, though, that I was not criticizing any bloggers who feel WIP photos are boring. I did feel badly when I had read that statement, but do strongly feel it is great for different people to have different styles. That said, thank you, everyone, for your nice words!

As for the DMC, I have been keenly aware for a while now that it is so pricey anywhere else, and I sure am grateful that I do live where it is cheap. I was just wondering if anyone had run into those great 8/$1.00 or 10/$1.00 sales that used to be so frequent here. I pay either 24 cents at Joann's or 29 cents at AC Moore... haven't shopped for floss at Michael's in the longest.... so, the general feeling seems to be that the best we can find is more like 5/$1.00 now. I wonder if importing the DMC has gotten to be pricier for the stores now.... ? I am glad I did stock up a lot during those big sales, but with the amount of stitching that I do, I often realize I have to run out just for a skein of something :-)

Happy Easter - hope everyone who celebrates had a good one! Mine was so nice - I worked out a little longer and a little harder than usual, and feel good as result :-)

LD is coming along great. I was a bit ho-hum about the band you are working on when I first started stitching it, but it soon grew on me and was a lot of fun to stitch. Enjoy the rest of Easter!

Gorgeous band sampler! As for DMC even 5 for a dollar would work out about 10p each over here in the UK but they cost 69p!! which is about $1.30 each!!! I can usually find them about 42p each and thats a good price over here. My hubby wants to move over to the States for Guitars lol and I want to come for the stitching supplies!!!

Mystery Sampler looks lovely. Its so great to find that groove with a piece when you can stitch along with a nice rhythm.

Not so long ago DMC was frequently 4 skeins/$1, now I usually pay 44 cents each with infrequent sales of 3 skeins for $1. The price has certainly crept up from what it used to be. But I still think I'm lucky compared to what some people have to pay, and the store is only 5 minutes away.

Nice progress! Shoot, if I didn't post WIP pics, I wouldn't have much to blog about!

Hope you had a wonderful Easter Sunday Carol.
Personally I love progress pictures as I find it so nice to see how a project is coming along & hear how a person feels about her project all along the stitching process.
Your forest and band sampler are both so pretty!!
Here in LV we usually pay 29c per skein for DMC. Sometimes JoAnn will have them at 4 for $1.

Carol - I am a few days behind reading blogs so missed your blog about daily postings. I too enjoy seeing your daily progress. In fact, I get a little jealous of how much you get done. There are four blogs (yours included) I read that post daily and I really look forward to the postings each day. Your posts are never boring - are short and to the point - and always have something worth reading. Count me as a fan!

Carol-I love your WIP photos. I don't find them boring. I find them inspiring. I am always amazed at how much progress you make over a period of time, especially in your weekly SAL with Jo. It gives me hope that yes, if I stick with a project long enough I will get it finished. It also reminds me that a little discipline in the stitching dept is not a bad thing and can inspire creativity instead of stifle it.

In regards to blogging in general, my blog first and foremost is for me, I was ecstatic the first time someone commented and I realized people were reading it, but I still try to keep in mind it's mine, I hope people that read it enjoy it, but when you put it in black and white, it's my journal. Period.

Oh pretty, love the Long Dog Mystery piece. Your colors are gorgeous. Don't I remember that you made some substitutions? BTW, I enjoy progress pictures very much!

Happy Easter. I love the colors on your sampler. I for one love to see your WIP's. Not only do they give me inspiration to keep stitching my own things but inspiration to try something new like the Chatelaine's. I'm glad you are keeping your format the same way. :-)

hi Carol, just catching up on my blog reading and see you've done lots of lovely, lovely stitching over the recent few days. Read your email just before - we've had no mail delivered here since Thursday due to public holidays so maybe the something from you will be in the box today :)

btw, we pay $1.30 NZ each for DMC threads here which is ridiculous, especially since the US exchange rate to the kiwi is now at $1 NZ to .72c US, the highest its been in ages.

Thank you so much for posting your progress on the Mystery Sampler! I have been neglecting mine and now that you have posted your progress, I am encouraged to pick it up again. I see that I am not all that far behind your progress! Glad to hear you had a good Easter. Keep blogging as much as you are comfortable with...just know that you are sending out lots of encouragement each time you do!

It's always fun to see your projects grow from day to day. :)

We don't see those fantastic buys on DMC in my part of the country. These days 20 cents each is the best deal that comes around now and then. Usually it goes on sale for 25 cents.

Hi Carol:

I wanted to contact you about the neighborhood round robin. I would love to participate in one. I have been blogging for about 6 months and have been stitching for many years. I received a comment on my blog which lead me to your neighborhood round robin web site. (Hello Neighbor!) After looking at that blog I realized that you are also involved in the Neighborhood of Make Believe blog I have been following. I love the projects on the Neighborhood of Make Believe blog -- they are beautiful. Anyway, I was not sure how to get involved in a round robin and I really want to do one. I wanted to check and see if you needed any more people for the 3rd group.

thanks,
Rob
