In the Forest

I was working on And A Forest Grew tonight and am now very, very close to the 50% mark, which feels pretty great. Yep, this is yet another WIP photo of this large project. I was reading in a blog somewhere a few days ago that the blogger noted that she did not like to show WIP pics as she felt they are boring. I am sorry if anyone finds my daily postings to be boring. You see, my blog is designed to be my stitching journal. It is not meant to be boring to you. I like to journal my daily stitching progresses (for me). It made me feel quite bad to read that a blogger felt that way about WIP photos. But, we all do have different styles and personalities when it comes to our blogging, and I know I get a lot of comments and emails that the photos are inspiring. So, cruddy feelings about making anyone bored aside, I will continue to enjoy my journaling. I do appreciate the folks who are supportive of my progresses. Heck, I appreciate you all - again, sorry to bore anyone.

Has any other US stitcher noticed that DMC floss is rarely ever on sale anymore? I think it has been weeks (or months, really) since a good DMC sale. I found it for 5/$1.00 at two stores about a month ago. Before that, it was quite a while. Also, the price is up - I paid 29 cents for a skein last night. Is this just regional to NH and MA, or is it everywhere now?

Personally I never find WIP's boring ... in fact I LOVE to see WIP's and share in the joy of seeing a project grow :) In fact sometimes I feel a bit sad when a project is finally finished ... and if anyone gets bored with WIP's then they don't have to look ;) Your stitching is always an inspiration to me - and even if I don't comment every day these days, I do check in daily for a peek at those wonderful WIP's :D

Oh no - I don't find WIP pics boring at all - in fact I love to see them! I really enjoy following your (and other people's) projects.

I love your WIP pictures!! I look nearly every day just to see what you have accomplished. It keeps ME inspired to keep plugging along just so I can have some progress to show for my day. Keep up with the pics!!

As for the DMC floss on sale. I'm from Canada, I'm not sure if that makes a difference, but Michael's seems to have their DMC on for 3/$1 at least once a month (it's usually 43 cents) Last month they had all DMC products on sale for 25% off (which gave me an excuse to get some of the new threads since they are usually $2.39.)

I love to see WIP pictures - it really motivates ME to work on my projects! As I've mentioned in comments ercently, I feel like I am ripping my readers off if I go a few days without pictures :) Nothings paints a picture as well as ..... a picture :)

As for DMC - in Aus we pay anywhere up to $1.20 PER SKEIN :)

I love seeing and showing off my WIP photos. I love seeing what everyone has gotten done and I love shareing what I've been working on. Your never a bore Carol.

I found DMC on sale at Michaels a week or so ago 4/1.00 but, other than that I've not found the 10/1.00 sale that they've had in the past. Normally I pay $.24 each at Michaels when I need floss.

I dont see the point of a stitching blog without WIP photo's. That would mean only seeing a photo every couple of months. I personally would find that very boring. If I find a blog boring, I don't bother visiting again. I'm sure most people are the same. Yours certainly isn't boring Carol!

DMC is never on sale in the UK. I think it's about £0.75 a skein here at the moment. Quite an expensive hobby is this cross stitch here in the UK.

WIP pics are the BEST part, IMO. I love seeing what everyone is working on. I like sharing their triumphs along with them. That piece is amazing Carol!

Oh, please go on this way. I´m not bored. I´m so curious, I come every day to your blog ;-)

Carol, Please don't ever think your WIP photos are boring! They're an inspiration and I love seeing them. Anne is right, no one HAS to look! You are probably the most consistent blogger and I look forward to reading your posts. Nancy D.

I love seeing your WIP pics! There are some things that I pulled out of my own stash and started on after seeing your pictures. This is your blog and it should be done the way you like it. If people like to just upload finishes they should do that but the fact that all blogs are so different makes it more fun to read them.

I totally agree with you about the DMC prices, I was thinking about that just last week.

I think they maybe meant if it was the same pic again and again but Carol you are certainly not boring us with your many, Many wonderful pieces. Just look at all the wonderful comments you get! My blog is really for journalling too but I love love love it when I get comments. I always know that when I click on your blog, that there'll be something new to see - a house maybe or a tree!!! Hugs,
xx

Carol, I enjoy sing your WIPs... and yes this is your journal. As usual we can talk with our fingers, legs, wallet, etc. That person can choose not to visit your blog. As I find there are blogs I read once an never go back. We all have our likes and dislikes and we should never change anything for the sake of someone else!

Be yourself! Be wierd, and ejoy life!

Hi Carol:

IMO - DMC is inexpensive even at 29 cents IMO. JoAnn Fabrics has sales once in awhile.

my 2 cents - It is YOUR blog ... do what you want. Should another person not want WIPs posted - that is ok, too. We are all unique. I have three blogs ... but it works for ME.

I enjoy viewing pics of your projects in the works. It is inspiring. Currently, I even have a few larger things ROTATING -- which never ever used to work for me. I see how you continue to stitch a bit here-n-there & before our very eyes -- you have a wonderful FINISHED project : )

Enjoy the day

I enjoy seeing WIPs. I just can't seem to want to post mine! As for DMC thread-no idea. Luckily I have such a stash, I don't need to look for threads that much.

I like WIPs when they represent something-not just 20 'x's. Perhaps that's what the other blogger meant? I don't have as many WIPs as most people, so I usually just update the one page I have for them on my blog. Your WIPs are never boring and I do appreciate seeing your progress. I'm envious of your fast stitching!
I was in Michael's on Friday and DMC was 4 for $1.00. Not sure how long the sale was.

Hi Carol I just wanted to say I love seeing your progress ,yours is one of the few blogs I read every day , and have even purchased several designs because I've seen them here, please don't change I think everyone has there own likes and dislikes and we shouldn't be so influenced by one persons opinion.

I think we saw the same post about boring WIP pics. I read one like that last week too, and I thought "oh no! I bet I bore the pants off people!" lol.

But then I figured....my blog - my rules. If I'm boring anyone then they'll most likely skip the bits that they don't like. I like wip pics though, and all sorts of other stuff so they'll get to stay.

I don't find WIP photos boring at all, and if I didn't post WIP photos myself I would probably hardly ever post (especially now that most of my time is spent on the rather large Long Dog sampler).

The Silver Thistle said...

Oh, forgot to say..........

You are so lucky! I'd LOVE to be able to get a skein for 29c lol. Here, it's 55p a skein for DMC which is about $1.10.......for one floss! Criminal!

I love seeing your WIP's, and I'm always amazed at how much it seems you get done. As for posting WIP's, I like the idea that you can see a project progress. Especially large projects where you can stitch for quite a while and not feel you've made any progress. However, if you post a picture, and compare it with the last post of it you had, you can see where you have made headway. WIP pictures are really motivating, whether they are mine or someone elses.

As to floss, it has been a while since the last big sale near me (10/$1). I used to think that was high, until I started reading blogs and seeing what others have to pay. Now, however, at .25 each around me, I think I'm lucky even if I have to pay full price.

I love seeing WIP progress - it's so inspiring! And I hit AC Moore here yesterday and got 4 for $1.00 which I didn't think was too bad. However I noticed their new variegated line are $1.29 which seems a bit steep.

Ooops, it was Michaels I was in up here and got 4/$1.00. Can't wait to see you soon at Celebrations.

Carol,
I daily read several blogs and count yours as one of my favourites. I love it that you write every day and always post a photo of either what you have stitched or one of your beautiful fur babies. Please do not change a single thing.

As for DMC cotton, I would die to be able to buy it so cheap. Here in Australia we are paying $1AU a skein which is about $1.33US. We have been paying that for as long as I can remember.

Look forward to reading more of your great blog.

Best wishes, Gail in Sydney, Aus.

xpI read that comment as well (among others, which kind of have me re-thinking my whole blogging experience...apparently, my blog is exactly what people *don't* want to be reading...anyway...) and I will echo others and say that you are not boring! I love seeing the updates on all your projects and am amazed at the progress you make. I may not comment every day, but I read your blog every day and look forward to what you decide to showcase each entry.
And judging by the other comments you've received, plenty of people like your blog. :-)

I enjoy your blog the way it is!! love your WIP pics, are very inspiring, and I think that's one of the reasons to keep a stitching blog. I like to post my WIP pics, also cause most of my readers don't speak Spanish, but they can enjoy the pic, I guess ;)
And about the DMC, here I pay 7.00 pesos, about 0.65 dollars for each skein :( But I agree with you, haven't heard about any good sale lately, cause sometimes, I contact floss fairies for my skeins...

I LOVE wip photos! It gives me so much inspriation and I love to see your work grow. I look forward to your PL weekly updates and I love to see if I can spot the progress from your previous evenings work. I post my daily wip photos also - and a lot of it for my own benefit - I love to watch the pieces grow. :-) But I've often wondered if people find my blog boring - I'll take heart from your comments as though they were for mine. :-)

Don't you dare stop posting your WIP photos!!!! they spur me on! and inspire me to keep going on my projects!
I LOVE your blog and hope you don't change a thing :)

Definitely I love to see your (and everyone's) WIPs. As someone who posts daily you'd have to finish something everyday to have photos otherwise - and you are good, but maybe that would be pushing it! LOL. I'm never bored by other's WIP photos - so be yourself and post what you want!

it's what I like about your blog...the daily progress pics! So please, follow what you like to do. Ann.
