Thank you so much to all of you that left me such lovely comments about the finishing of House Samplings. I really appreciated hearing from you.
I decided it is time to break a bad habit. It is hard to admit, but I take needlework classes every year, and when I get home the class kit gets put away in my stash. To date, I have never picked even one up to stitch on it after the class was dismissed! I decided that is the bad habit I am going to break right now, and I started Acorn Sampler, the class with Betsy Stinner of Earth Threads that I took on Friday... the photo is dark but here is my start... ;-)
Stitched on today: Finished a gift, started a gift, and started Acorn Sampler

Didn't you just love Betsy Stinner? I love her pieces and have a couple from classes I've taken from her in my WIP/UFO pile. Enjoy stitching on her piece.
A great start!! Breaking bad habits is always good. Wish my bad habit was as fun to break as stitching - I'm a nail biter! :/
Carol, Congratulations on your resolution. I am sure you will enjoy forming both the new habit and the Acorn Sampler. lucky you to live in USA and be able to attend such a wonderful needlework convention. Somtimes NZ feels like the end of the earth - well it almost is?! Enjoy your stitching - youa re an inspiration
That's a pretty start!
Good on you for making a start on your class project - I had a peek at the class options, and there are some beautiful ones :) Look forward to seeing your sampler stitched up :) (I have to admit that's one thing I love about CA Wells' classes - we have to start stitching before the class, so there's no excuse not to at least start! haha)
How pretty is this! You're off to a great start.
Love the acorn band! Looks like there are different stitches?
A great start on the sampler!
Carol – You’re as bad as me – I spend a small fortune going to retreats or classes (since none of them are held locally, the cost usually involves an airfare and a hotel stay, but I rarely (if ever) finish my class pieces. I went to Sampler Gathering in 2002, and the Shepherd’s Bush retreat in 2006 because I wanted to take classes with CA Wells and Merry Cox, but I have yet to finish the class pieces. Each year, I tell myself that this will be the year that I finish my class pieces, but it never seems to happen. Maybe I should make more of an effort! Good luck with your Celebrations class pieces!
Great start Carol! Ann
Nice start Carol, I look forward to seeing it grow. I hear you on the class projects, I'm trying to work through mine by having a permanent slot in my rotation for them
That's a beautiful start! I just love acorns, I'm sure it will be a wonderful sampler.
It's a very pretty start, Carol!
Great start, and very good motivation to finish the class piece. I'm afraid I'm a bit like your old self, thrusting it (carefully) into the old stash pile! Look forawrd to seeing its progress :)
I can't wait to see the Acorn Sampler grow. I am planning to do the same thing this year with the classes I took. My first on the Celebration list is Pooh's Temptation. Then after I finish this year's classes, I'm going to work back until I get to 2004.
I'm glad you had a great time at Celebration.
What a beautiful start.
Congrats! on House Samplings. Did you hear of Hillside retiring? I forget where I seen it, but heard of it no more.
House Samplings start and Acorn sampler finish are both looking pretty.
A very good start!
Carol,
It is wonderful! congrats on the resolution and the wonderful beginning to your sampler! I will stay tuned!
Laura
who lives in Wa. state, and there are no retreats... I will get to one one day!
Good for you!!! This is gorgeous already!!!
LOL - I, too, have several workshop pieces in my closet. Just never seem to pick them up after the class!!!
This one look great - enjoy : )
Good for you for starting this piece so soon after the class! I agree that it's a hard habit to break. I have the same problem...
