Emerald Jeweled Garden Update

Right now, Mondays are for Emerald Jeweled Garden.... not for much longer though, this piece moves along quite quickly. Tonight I mostly did backstitching, but next week I get to do spider webs and cup stitch again... and maybe work up towards the sparkly reflecting pool too?

Thanks to all for the anniversary wishes. Mike and I really appreciate them all!! Thank you!!!!!!! My friends are so sweet! We had a usual quiet Monday night in tonight - it's the start of a busy work week, after all. We figure our impromptu trip to Fenway Park on Saturday was our big event, as well as our trip to Portland, Maine at the end of the week (Amanda, we will be at the Portland Regency...)... I didn't do laundry today though - I know someone wrote that I should not do that on my anniversary LOL! I got that done yesterday instead :-)

Does anyone recognize this (ugly) plant? It has been growing here for years. We planted some grape vines against a trellis which is against our chimney back in 2001 when we bought this house - I figure this plant was riding in the pot with one of the vines.... is it rhubarb? Does rhubarb make a bud ball like this? This is a super hardy plant... can't say I like where it is growing though! Mike likes it, so it stays... sure would love to know what it is! Can anyone help me?

I'm so glad I happened upon your blog. Your cross-stitches are beautiful.

Carol-rhubarb has similar leaves, but the familiar red edible stalks attached to them. Wonder if there are male and female ones? It looks cool though.

I've never seen a rhubarb with that kind of growth, Carol! I'll be standing by to see if someone has an answer for you. :D

Wow, your Emerald Jeweled Garden is incredible!

As for that weird plant, it looks like no rhubarb I've ever seen. You've certainly made me very curious as to what it is, though!

Your LTD looks great Carol, as I was on vacation I didn't stitch much on it, only a few backstitches on the stones. I hope to have a stitching day on it this week or weekend.

The leaves kind of look similar to rhubarb, but in all the years my Uncle has grown it, there have never been flowers on it. I asked him a little while ago and he said he didn't think it sounded like rhubarb.

I can email him the photo, but didn't want to without you knowing about it.

Happy Belated Anniversary! I'm not sure about the plant but I wouldn't walk too closely.. looks like it was beamed down from the mother ship..."feed me seymore!" Lovely stitching as usual.

After reading dianne's link it looks like rhubarb, but a non eating variety. Rather like we get ornamental cabbages there is a form of ornamental rhubarb.

I can truthfully say that I have never seen a flowering rhubarb though..

Congratulations on your anniversary too :)

Very funny looking;-) I am a plant ignoramus and have no idea what a rhubarb plant looks like . I might be able to identify an artichoke but I am afraid that is not very helpful here! Good luck .
